Dinwiddie County Fire & EMS is responsible for the delivery of fire services, emergency medical services, and the emergency / disaster management program. The division uses a combination of career personnel and more than 200 volunteers to deliver these services.

Fire services are provided from six fire stations that are located throughout the county. Services delivered include fire suppression, hazardous materials response, rescue services, fire prevention, code enforcement and public education.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) are provided from four of the county?s six fire stations. EMS provides first response and transport services at the basic and advanced life support levels.

The emergency / disaster management program for the county is also handled by the Division of Fire & EMS. This program is primarily responsible to maintain the various emergency plans for the county including the Dinwiddie County Emergency Operations Plan, the Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Plan, and the Disaster Mitigation Plan. The emergency management program is also responsible for maintaining the County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and staffing the EOC and coordinating response during major events that affect the County.
