Our Story

It all began in 2006 when our local dive shop, Dallas Weston Dive & Travel, decided to sell or close the shop. The next nearest shop to Colonial Heights was a 30-45 minute drive and that was just too far to go to have tanks filled. So, having a retail location already, The Award Shop, I decided to open up a small dive store. In the beginning, the shop focused on training more then the retail side of a dive shop. But as the business grew, so did the need for equipment. In a very short time the business became a full fledged PADI, NAUI and SDI Dive Center. In 2012, the decision was made to close the retail facility in order to focus on other businesses.
In 2017, a few years after the sale of two other retail businesses, the decision was made to re-open Tri-City SCUBA. In December of 2017 we began renovating a building located behind The Award Shop which has become the new location of Tri-City SCUBA. The layout of the building is ideal for a dive shop. The shop has it’s own retail showroom, classroom, equipment room, changing room and compressor room. The shop will reopen on March 31, 2018 with a grand opening to be scheduled at a later date.

We have felt for many years that there is a void in our local area. Our goal is to establish a place for divers to call their own Local Dive Shop and one that they can be proud of.
