Inspiration from the Swift Creek Studio Kathy Rivera & The Swift Creek Artists Exhibit Grand Opening Saturday, October 3, 2026 2-4pm Join us as we celebrate the opening of this exhibit with light food, cash bar, and of course, the ART! While tickets are not required to attend, RSVPs are strongly encouraged. About Us: Kathy Rivera fell in love with oils in 2016 with Chuck Larivey as her mentor. She has no words to describe how she feels about the painting process. She just gets lost in the process of capturing the feeling of what she wants to portray. Whether it’s the excitement of horses running out of the waves, the serenity of still water, or the intimacy of an interior room, Kathy wants her viewers to feel a part of that mood. Sometimes she takes photographs to use as references to capture the light like the sun reflections on a table or streaming in the window. Other times, she has an idea in her head, like the horses running out of the ocean. She hopes she pulls the viewer along with her in the story she is painting. https://www.kathyriverafineart.com/ Swift Creek Artist Statement The Swift Creek Artists’ passions for painting and their friendship evolved organically from an art class on the Swift Creek Reservoir. With no painting background, the seven painters from previous occupations honed their creative talents during class. Originally seven strangers, their friendship developed as each inspired and encouraged artists in the group. With subjects ranging from seascapes, cityscapes, landscapes to wild and domestic life, all seven share a deep passion for painting and a belief in creating works of value. All seven oil painters are juried members of the Bon Air Artist Association and have juried into exhibits across Richmond.
