Colonial Heights Public Schools Names New Superintendent Colonial Heights, VA – Travis Ridley has been named the next Superintendent of Colonial Heights Public Schools, effective July 1, 2025. Ridley currently serves as the division’s Assistant Superintendent of Instruction, a position he has held since 2023. He began his career in education as a classroom teacher and coach in Colonial Heights and has since held a variety of leadership roles within the division, including Director of Career and Technical Education, Principal, and Assistant Principal. Prior to his current position, Ridley served as Assistant Superintendent of Instruction for Buckingham County Public Schools. Ridley brings 22 years of experience in public education to his new role. “I am honored to be selected as the next Superintendent of Colonial Heights Public Schools,” stated Ridley. “I want to thank the School Board for their confidence in me, and I look forward to working collaboratively with our students, staff, families, and the entire Colonial Heights community to continue building on the division’s strong tradition of excellence.” Steven Neece, Chair of the Colonial Heights School Board, believes Ridley will be a great fit for the division. He stated, “Travis Ridley brings strong leadership and a clear vision for achieving student success while promoting the culture that defines our school system. The school board is excited about the future of our school division under his guidance and looks forward to the continued growth and progress of Colonial Heights Public Schools.” Ridley earned his Master of Educational Administration and Supervision from Virginia State University, a Master of Business Administration from Hampton University, and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Hampton University. The Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) assisted the school board with the superintendent search process.
